Ein höchst interessanter als auch geheimnisvoller Flohmarktfund: Eine White Label-Single, bei der man dank eines Stempels zumindest das Label „Fox Century Plaza Records“ verifizieren kann. Weiters hat der Vorbesitzer auf dem Lochcover die stilistische Einstufung „Disco/Soul“ als auch den (vermuteten) Titel „Give Me Your Best Shot Baby Pts. 1 & 2“ vermerkt, aber das war's dann auch schon.
Selbst nach intensiver Internetrecherche bleibt der Name der Band vorerst ein Mysterium, zumindest liefert aber das googlen von „Fox Century Plaza Records“ einige erste Ansatzpunkte: So kann man youtube kann man in das ungewöhnlich betitelte „I'm“ von Robert L. Boyd, Jr. (Fox Century Plaza Records F 133) reinhören.

Gleichzeitig erfährt man hier dank der Labelbeschriftung, dass das Label in Philadelphia beheimatet war als auch dass die Single 1977 erschienen ist. Damit bestätigt sich auch der erste Eindruck, den „Give Me Your Best Shot Baby Pts. 1 & 2“ vermittelt, denn eine Affinität zum Sound aus den Studio von Philadelphia International Records lässt sich hier nicht leugnen und Arrangement & Produktion klingen einfach sehr nach 1977.
Auf ebay findet man zumindest seit Dezember 2012 mit „Honey I'm Gonna Kiss Your Lips/Phil Darling“ (Fox Century Plaza Records F 229) von Philip Fields bzw. Louise Bush eine weitere Single von Fox Century Plaza Records.Diese dürfte aber wohl noch länger zum Verkauf stehen, schließlich verlangte der Verkäufer dafür schlappe 200 $, ein Jahr später immer noch 125 $...
Auf dieser Splitsingle, die sich Philip Fields und Louise Bush teilen, entfernen sich die beiden soundmäßig ziemlich von ihrer Labelheimat Philadelphi: Während Fields seine Kuss-Ankündigung in erdigen 70er- Memphis-Soul verpackt wagt sich Mrs. Bush gar in Nashvill'sche Country-Gefilde vor.
Über die musikalischen Qualitäten von „Don't Forget My Love/You Should Be Ashamed“ von Juanita C. Sullivan (Fox Century Plaza Records F 132, 1977) kann ich mangels Hörbeispielen leider nichts sagen.
