Chicago gekreuzt mit Pink Floyd in deren "Atom Heart Mother""-Periode und dazu noch Janis Joplin als Leadsängerin. Undenkbar? Keineswegs, denn diese interessante Kombination servierten Guillotine 1971 auf dem Track „Those Years Have Gone By“. Wer aber war nun diese höchst obskure Formation bzw. woher kam sie eigentlich? Ein erstes Indiz liefert das New Yorker Ampex Label, auf dem diese Single veröffentlicht wurde, ein weiteres, dass Guillotine ihr einziges selbstbetiteltes Album in England eingespielt haben. Tatsächlich stammte diese 8-köpfige Formation rund um Sängerin Carol Breval aber nicht aus dem Big Apple oder von den britischen Inseln, sondern aus dem kanadischen Quebec.
„Those Years Have Gone By“ erschien übrigens die Rückseite von „I Can't Believe It“, was wieder mal die Theorie bestätigt, dass sich die wahren Perlen oftmals auf den Rückseiten von Singles verstecken. Auf der A-Seite orientieren sich Guillotine soundmäßig wieder an Chicago, diesmal allerdings ohne Pink Floyd-Einfluß, dafür aber mit mit einer hier schwer verdaulichen Überdosis Janis Joplin. Auf dem Album dauert dieser Song stolze 10:39, die für die Single auf 3:09 Minuten gekürzt wurden, die aber auch viel zu lange erscheinen....
